It brings us immense pleasure to announce that this year Saikat will be organizing a “Boisakhi Mela” on Saturday April 06, 2019 to usher in the first day (“Poila Boisakh”) of the Bengali New Year (1426 Bongabdo). This event is being co-organized with the Greater San Diego Bangladesh Association (GSBA).
It will be an outdoor event in the format of a summer fair (‘Mela’) with multiple vendors catering a wide selection of culinary choices as well as traditional Bengali apparel and accessories. Food will be available for purchase only (preferably using cash) from these vendors on-site. Furthermore, we plan to have several cultural programs throughout the day performed by members of our community.

At this time, we would like to invite proposals from prospective Directors interested to direct cultural programs using local talent. Some examples are:
Opening musical program (Poila Boisakh Theme)
Other musical programs by adults and/or kids
Dance programs by adults and/or kids
Any other performing arts
Please submit your proposals via email to ec@saikat.org latest by March 10, 2019 (Sunday) with a synopsis of the program you are planning to direct and your contact information.
