Saikat volunteers regularly participate in the "Cook a Meal" charity work at the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) of San Diego. During such an event, Saikat volunteers cook hot meals for the families of sick children being treated at the Rady Children's Hospital. These families spend long hours at the hospital with their child. When they come back to RMHC, a hot nutritious meal gives these exhausted and overwhelmed families the chance to relax and connect with others.
The latest volunteering event was organized by Saikat on Sunday, April 29th, 2018. In addition to adult volunteers cooking hot meals for nearly 150 people, there were almost a dozen young volunteers. This time we had also reserved the family baking area so that we could engage our young volunteers as well. It was so inspiring to see these little ones bake nearly a couple hundred brownies quickly and then helping with dishes and clean up.
