This program aims to provide food to the homeless and economically challenged people in San Diego.
Saikat joined hands with "U-Turn Lives", a non-profit volunteer driven organization, aimed at assisting the economically challenged and homeless people. On March 31st, 2018, Saikat participated in the "Brown Bag Brigade" and provided 150 brown bags to homeless people at the Neil Good Day Center in downtown San Diego. For all of our volunteers, it was an overwhelming experience - we were reminded once more how blessed we are to be having food and clean water whenever we want!
The night before more than a dozen of our young volunteers worked enthusiastically to make 150 turkey sandwiches and pack cookies, juice pouches, fruits and breakfast bars in the brown bags. The next day, we distributed them to the homeless people at the Neil Good Day Center. In this process, we aim to pass on the values of sharing and giving to the next generation by involving them in every aspect of the process right from preparing the food, to packing them into brown bags, and then to finally distributing them.
