Saikat is a charitable, non-profit organization, dedicated to promoting Bengali culture in San Diego and neighboring communities. Since its inception in 1987, Saikat has been holding cultural events (Saraswati Puja, Cultural Program "Krishti", Annual Picnic, Durga Puja etc.) in San Diego.

Announcements

NEW! Thanks to everyone for attending KRISHTI 2010 with Pt. Ajoy Chakrabarty. We had a full house with a multinational and multi-cultural audience, united by the sublime power of music. A big round of applause for our community children, who put up a fine show with their introductory songs. Thanks to all the volunteers and participants for making this event a big success! Several amendments to Saikat's constitution were approved during picnic. To view how these changes will affect you, check out our June newsletter. You can read the revised version of the constitution here. The earlier version can be found here. The changes will take effect from July 31, 2010.

Saikat has launched a charitable venture called "SHIELD" (Sustainable Health Improvement and EducationaL Development) project, in which members and well-wishers of Saikat can participate to raise funds to help overcome poverty by sponsoring needy children across the world.
